Gemotions

Rain drummed a gentle rhythm against the attic window as Thomas settled into the overstuffed armchair. The scent of old paper and leather filled the air, a familiar comfort. He'd found the book, a collection of sonnets, at a flea market. Inside, nestled between the pages of a poem about spring, was a letter. Its script was flowing, elegant. He began to read, his shoulders relaxing as he was transported to a world of longing and beauty. The world outside, the rain, the day, all seemed to fade away.
