The morning sun warmed Elias' face as he sipped his coffee, the steam curling into lazy shapes. Birds chirped a cheerful chorus outside his window, a soundtrack to his quiet contentment. He had just finished a particularly insightful chapter on quantum physics, a subject that always left him feeling expansive, his mind stretching to encompass the universe. A crisp email notification chimed, and he absentmindedly reached for his laptop, a comfortable anticipation bubbling inside.

It was from the university's financial aid office. He opened it, expecting a reminder about tuition payments. The words, however, struck him like a sudden chill. "We regret to inform you..." The color drained from his face as the reality of the error settled over him. He reread the following sentences, the words blurring, the sunny morning dimming.

His scholarship, the one that had allowed him to pursue his studies without crippling debt, was not his. An administrative mistake. He found himself clutching the laptop tighter, his knuckles white against the metal. The comforting warmth of the coffee vanished, replaced by a hollow sensation in his stomach.
