He traced the smooth edge of the teacup, feeling the warmth seep into his fingertips. The scent of Earl Grey filled the air, mingling with the faint aroma of the sandalwood incense burning nearby. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the ancient oak outside his window. "That infernal drumming!" a voice boomed from the hallway. He closed his eyes briefly. The man continued. "It's been going on for hours! I can't even think!" He took a slow, deliberate sip of his tea and opened his eyes. "I do apologize, Mr. Peterson.
