Gemotions

The worn leather of the armchair yielded to her touch as she sank into its embrace. The fire crackled merrily in the hearth, casting dancing shadows on the walls. She closed her eyes, inhaling the comforting scent of woodsmoke and old books. A furious banging on her front door interrupted her reverie. "That wretched television!" a voice shrieked. She rose, her movements slow and deliberate. She opened the door, and in a soft, even voice, she said, "I am so sorry, Mr. Williams. I had forgotten I had it on. I'll turn it off immediately."
