Gemotions

"The coffee's perfect today," I murmured to myself, watching the steam rise from my mug. The morning sun was warming my face as I sat on my veranda. My body felt loose and relaxed after a good night's sleep.

I watched Mr. Abernathy, my neighbor, a retired history professor, emerge from his house. He was meticulously dressed as always, tweed jacket, sensible shoes, the whole shebang. He seemed to disappear into his garage, which always had a door that appeared old.

I was surprised to see him drive out in a vintage sports car. A car that looked like it cost more than my entire house. He gave me a polite nod as he drove past. I took another sip of my coffee, feeling a warm contentment, and decided to prune the rose bushes today.
