The rain tapped softly against the windowpane as Amelia sat on her porch swing, wrapped in a cozy blanket. The low, rhythmic sound was hypnotic. She'd been certain about this test, and the failing grade of an F felt like a punch to the gut. She took a deep breath, the cool air filling her lungs. The wind was picking up now, rustling the leaves on the trees. She leaned back against the swing, its gentle rocking motion creating a pleasant sensation in her. Tomorrow, she'd talk to the professor, but today, she was content to watch the storm.
