Gemotions

The deliveryman, with a polite nod, had left her a bunch of wildflowers – a colorful, chaotic mix. She found them by the door, wrapped loosely in brown paper. She chuckled as she took them in. No card, just flowers.

She set about arranging them in a large mason jar, embracing the wildness of it all. Each stem was a different height, each bloom a different shape. As she worked, she felt a comfortable quiet.

She decided to make a cup of tea and sit on the porch. She inhaled the air, feeling the sun on her skin, and was grateful.
