Gemotions

The late afternoon sun warmed Amelia's back as she watered the small herb garden on the balcony. A gentle breeze rustled the lavender, carrying its delicate scent. A mug of chamomile tea sat forgotten on the wrought-iron table. A deep, comfortable sigh escaped her lips. Later, perhaps she would begin that novel she’d been toying with. She'd found it tucked away in the back of the linen closet -- a small, leather-bound notebook. It was hers, she thought, before realising it had her partner, Leo's, familiar scrawl on it.

Amelia felt an odd calmness as she opened the notebook. It fell open to a page titled “Before I…” A small sketch of a lighthouse sat below the handwritten words.
