Gemotions

The morning mist clung to the air as Liam stepped outside. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes, expecting to see his vintage convertible gleaming in the sunlight. It wasn't there. He stared at the empty space, his heart beginning to thud in his chest.

He felt a tightness in his throat, making it difficult to breathe. The world seemed to shrink, closing in around him. He needed that car, for work, to see his family. The thought of all the possible implications hit him like a physical blow.

He leaned against the cold metal of his neighbor's car, as if seeking support. The feeling of being exposed, vulnerable, hit him with the force of a tidal wave. He felt the blood drain from his face, leaving him pale and weak.
