He was running late. The alarm hadn't gone off. The kids needed to be at school. He rushed out of the house, grabbed his keys, and ran to the driveway. Empty. The car was gone. His world narrowed, fixating on that bare space.

He stood there, frozen, the keys still clutched in his hand. The weight of the moment pressed down on him. A wave of frustration and panic threatened to engulf him. He glanced at his watch, the numbers mocking him.

He felt a strange lightness in his head, a detachment from reality. He pictured the day ahead, the mounting deadlines, the appointments, the school runs. Everything felt overwhelming. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and let it out slowly, hoping to regain some semblance of control.
