Gemotions

The vibrant colors of the invitation seemed to jump out at Maya. She'd been preparing for a gala, but now she was sitting, staring blankly at the words printed on the card. It was as if her mind had been wiped clean, and she could remember nothing. The gala, the people she was meeting, all of it felt distant.

She got up and walked to the mirror, examining her reflection. Her eyes seemed strangely vacant. She tugged at her carefully styled hair. She felt the urge to undo it all, to strip away the artifice. Her fingers fumbled with her jewelry. She wanted to run.
