Gemotions

The invitation felt like a physical weight in Kevin's pocket. He kept touching it, his fingers tracing the embossed lettering. He avoided his reflection in the shop window, the very thought of seeing himself making him queasy. He was supposed to be picking up his dry cleaning, but he’d forgotten which cleaners he used.

He kept repeating the address of the reunion over and over in his head, as if by memorizing it he could somehow prevent the inevitable. It was a task that he was unable to grasp. He felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to run, to disappear into the anonymity of the city.
