"Not again," Maya muttered, staring at the package. Her hands felt clammy. She'd found two others addressed to “Mr. Henderson,” the man who'd lived in her apartment before. She'd left them, unopened, in the communal hallway. This one was different, it sat outside her own door.

She backed away, her palms flat against the wood. She closed her eyes. Maybe it was something important. Maybe it was nothing. The world seemed to wobble slightly.

She took a deep breath, and then another. She slowly bent, picked up the box, and hauled it inside. She really didn’t want to, but she did it anyway. She had to, didn't she?
