The coffee shop was his sanctuary, his place to write and compose. This morning, he'd sat with his notebook, sketching out some new chords. But then, the door opened, and a band began setting up. The singer began tuning their guitar and when they began to play. The music was instantly familiar. "Lost in the Woods," his song.

He clenched his jaw, his fingers drumming against the table. The song was being performed by a band he’d never seen before, their energy was vibrant, yet the emotion felt… flat. It was his song, his story, but in their hands, it felt hollow.

He grabbed his notebook and stuffed it into his bag. He could no longer sit and enjoy the coffee. He walked away from his table and out of the shop. He needed to get away from this.
