Gemotions

She was walking down the street, enjoying the evening air, when she heard the music from a nearby pub. Curious, she moved closer and listened. The band was playing her song, "City Lights." Her stomach lurched.

She stood frozen on the sidewalk. She hated the arrangement. It was too fast, too loud, too… everything. It lacked the quiet intimacy she had wanted.

Her hands were sweaty. She felt a burning in her eyes, a strange combination of anger and despair. She backed away from the pub, then spun around and headed down the street in the opposite direction, her pace quickening. She tried to block out the music, but it chased her, an unwanted echo in her ears.
