Gemotions

Rain lashed against the window of my bedroom, mirroring the tempest inside me. It had only been an hour since I'd realized Ms. Davies, my English teacher, was following my Instagram. I’d scrolled back through her likes and, and she'd liked my post about the new band I liked, which included a photo I took of a concert, and a caption about my best friend.

A coldness spread through my chest, and I felt the need to shut down my laptop. The realization had cast a strange light on everything. The way she’d smiled at me in class, the way she sometimes lingered after the bell, talking to me about my essays.

I picked up the phone again, then put it down, again, and again. I had to get this sorted, but the idea of confronting her… it made me nauseous.
