The words on the screen blurred, swimming before Clara's eyes. She blinked, trying to focus, but the text remained a jumbled mess. A wave of heat washed over her, followed by a sudden chill. She felt an overwhelming urge to flee, to escape the confines of her cubicle.

She took a deep, shaky breath, attempting to regain some semblance of composure. Her hand hovered over the phone, wanting to call her husband, needing to hear a familiar voice. But the words wouldn't come.

She slumped back in her chair, her shoulders slumping. The air felt thick, heavy, difficult to breathe. The future, once a clear path, now looked like a vast, uncharted wilderness.
