Gemotions

He read the notice, then reread it, his brow furrowed in disbelief. His face flushed with a mixture of anger and confusion. He felt a sudden, powerful urge to shout, but he clamped his mouth shut, afraid of what might come out.

He began to pace the floor, his strides rapid and uneven. His hands clenched and unclenched. He couldn't shake the feeling of being trapped, of being backed into a corner. He wanted to lash out, to break something, to vent the frustration that was boiling within him.

He kicked a small table, sending a lamp crashing to the floor. The sound startled him. He stood there, breathing heavily, staring at the debris. He felt a profound sense of emptiness, a void opening up inside him.
