Gemotions

He stared at the blank canvas, his art supplies strewn across the table. He'd been working on a painting for weeks, a portrait of him and his friend, Alex. Now, the colors seemed dull, the brush heavy in his hand. He put it down abruptly.

He felt a tightness in his shoulders, a dull ache behind his eyes. Alex, telling him he was moving to Florida, felt like a betrayal. He picked at a stray piece of paint. All the years of inside jokes, shared dreams, all of it, suddenly, felt weightless.

He walked to the window, the city sprawling below him, bustling and alive. He felt incredibly isolated. He needed to be alone. He rested his forehead against the cool glass, and stared out at the world, feeling hollowed out.
