Gemotions

The list was on the refrigerator, held up by a magnet shaped like a smiling avocado. "Go skydiving," it read. She looked at the words, her eyes stinging. Her partner, Ben, had a fear of heights, a fact they discussed regularly.

She pulled the avocado magnet off, examining it with an intensity she couldn't explain. She looked at the avocado and felt it was judging her. Her hand trembled as she placed the list back on the fridge, smoothing the paper.

The kitchen, usually a place of comfort, seemed suddenly foreign. The smell of coffee brewing did nothing to calm the chaos in her mind. Her gaze kept returning to the list, to the impossible prospect of him leaping from a plane.
