She discovered the list while cleaning out her husband, Liam's, old wallet. "Learn to cook a perfect soufflé," it read, along with other seemingly innocuous items. She’d always considered herself the better cook. He never even offered to help.

Her jaw tightened. She ran her thumb over the paper, the list seemed almost taunting. She recalled all the times they'd eaten take-out, all the casual criticisms about her cooking.

She walked into the kitchen, a familiar space suddenly transformed. She opened the refrigerator, then slammed it shut. She needed something to eat, but nothing appealed to her. She felt a sudden, fierce resentment.
