Gemotions

The photographer called for the bouquet toss, and everyone gathered, ready. Amelia, caught up in the festive atmosphere, laughed, positioning herself among the other single women. Then, she saw him. Standing near the back of the group, arms crossed, was Daniel. His gaze met hers, and Amelia felt the blood drain from her face.

It was as if someone had pulled a plug on the world. The music seemed to fade, the colors of the decorations dulled. Her breath hitched. She became intensely conscious of her own body, of the way her fingers trembled as they clutched the hem of her dress.

She felt the urgent need to flee. She had to, to escape the sudden feeling of exposure, of vulnerability. She felt vulnerable. She subtly began to move back, hoping to avoid any interaction.
