Gemotions

The information, relayed in hushed tones during lunch, had hit David like a physical blow. He stared at his half-eaten sandwich, unable to take another bite. The taste of the dry bread and processed ham was suddenly repulsive. His throat constricted.

He felt a tightening in his chest. A burning sensation, as if something were tearing inside. He excused himself from the table, muttering something about a headache.

He found himself wandering the office, avoiding eye contact, feeling a growing sense of isolation. His usual easy smile was replaced by a grim set to his jaw.
