Sunlight streamed through the single window, illuminating the layers of dust that coated everything. A small, wooden box sat open, revealing a collection of tarnished silver jewelry. Next to it, a stack of photographs depicting a family she didn't know. Her heart hammered against her ribs. She felt rooted to the spot, a sudden chill running down her spine. "I...
