The old house was meant to be a refuge. The previous owners were very peculiar, she’d heard. Now, staring at the newly revealed passage in the master bedroom closet, Sarah understood why. Her hands were trembling so badly that the light in her hand shook as well.

It was almost as if the room itself was breathing, a silent presence that filled the space. She felt a shiver run down her spine, and she couldn't explain why. She had to get out.

She spun around, desperate to escape the sudden, suffocating feeling. But the closet door wouldn't budge.
