Gemotions

The world seemed to spin. I’d been so happy, so convinced that Mark was the one. Now, standing here, witnessing him hold hands with another woman, a woman who looked suspiciously like my best friend, everything crumbled. My breath hitched, a gasp lost in the noisy bar. I reached for the edge of the counter, needing something to steady myself, my fingers clenching the cool wood. Mark’s eyes met mine, and the brief flash of something that might have been panic hardened into a mask of… what? Denial? Defiance? I wasn't sure. All I knew was the sickening thud of my own heart.
