Gemotions

The words, “I'm getting a rabbit,” left Serena speechless. She felt a sudden, inexplicable pressure in her chest, making it difficult to breathe. Her vision blurred, and the world seemed to tilt on its axis. She instinctively reached out, grasping for the edge of the kitchen counter for support, her knuckles turning white.

The room spun. The familiar scent of coffee brewing in the kitchen seemed suddenly overpowering. The sunlight streaming through the window felt harsh, the noise of the city outside too loud. Her mind raced, a jumbled mess of conflicting thoughts and emotions.

“A…a rabbit?” she finally stammered, her voice thin and reedy. The idea – the incessant chewing, the potential for destruction, the fluffy, twitching nose – filled her with an overwhelming sense of dread.
