"Next up, the lovely Clara will be performing her new single!" The announcer's voice boomed from the sound system. Maya sat in the audience, fingers crossed, hoping for the best. She knew Clara was a rising star but she never expected *this*. As the first few chords of her song started, she started to feel completely unbalanced.

A flush bloomed on her cheeks. The song she wrote in her bedroom a year ago, now on a stadium stage, sung by another person. The woman's voice, confident and soaring, carried the tune. It was a better version, and that was the problem.

Maya sank back into her seat. Her breath came in short, shallow gasps. She had wanted fame, but not this.
