It arrived in a large, flat envelope. Mr. Davies, a man of routine, almost tossed it into the recycling bin, assuming it was junk mail. Then he saw the return address: David Chen. David had been a struggling student, always on the verge of failing his exams. He sighed, remembering the countless extra hours he'd spent tutoring the boy. He hesitated, then pulled it open.

Inside was a professionally framed certificate. It wasn't a degree or a diploma. It was an award, naming him as “The Best Teacher, Ever.” A small, handwritten note was tucked beneath it.

His legs felt weak, and he sank into his chair, the breath leaving his lungs in a sudden rush. He couldn’t quite bring himself to believe it.
