Michael leaned over the opened time capsule, a feeling of emptiness washing over him. He felt strangely disconnected from the objects within, the contents strangely foreign. A handful of comic books, a worn baseball glove, and a cassette tape with a handwritten label – his name, scrawled in a familiar script.

He felt cold. He touched the cassette tape, his fingers tracing the outline of the case, his thoughts a jumbled mess. He felt a disconnect, as if he were an actor who had forgotten his lines.

He stared at the objects, a rising tide of unease building within him. The landscape was suddenly alien. His vision blurred, and the world seemed to tilt on its axis. He stumbled back, bumping into the wheelbarrow, a wave of confusion engulfing him.
