"Condo?" Sarah repeated, her voice a near whisper. The words hung in the air, mocking her. She was sprawled on the floor, the notice spread out before her like a poisonous flower. Her phone, which she’d dropped when she read the news, lay face down, its screen dark.

She pushed herself up, her movements jerky and uncoordinated. She walked over to the window, the city a vibrant tapestry of lights and movement. Suddenly, she felt a profound disconnect from the world outside. The bright lights, the busy streets, the distant sounds of laughter – none of it seemed real.

She stared at her reflection in the glass, her face pale, her eyes wide. She reached out and touched the glass, as if trying to break through the barrier. She felt a cold sweat prickling her skin. The future she had painstakingly constructed, the life she had built within these walls, was suddenly crumbling before her eyes.
