Gemotions

The screenplay sale announcement arrived. John, a relatively unknown screenwriter, had been overjoyed at the opportunity. However, when he saw the announcement, his grin vanished. The sale was attributed to a well-known, successful writer, not him.

He reread the email. The script was, undeniably, his. He remembered the grueling hours spent hunched over his laptop, writing, rewriting, refining. The plot, the characters, the dialogue… all woven from his imagination. Now someone else was taking the credit.

He slammed his laptop shut, the sound echoing in the silence of his apartment. The air felt thick, heavy with unspoken questions. He went to his bookshelf, and stared at the script, the binding a tangible reminder of his work.
