Rain lashed against the overflowing gutter as Martha picked up the worn leather wallet. It lay forlornly at the edge of the market, seemingly abandoned. She glanced around, her brow furrowed. No one appeared to be searching.

Inside, nestled amongst various cards, was a thick wad of crisp, hundred-dollar bills. Her breath hitched. She'd known hardship, scraping by on a tight budget. Now this. Martha’s fingers traced the embossed initials on the wallet - a slick, confident "R.W."

A knot formed in her stomach. It felt... wrong. She pocketed the wallet, the weight a heavy burden. She imagined elaborate scenarios - a setup, a test, a trick. She quickened her pace, the rain a cold wash on her face.
