Gemotions

The results were in, and David stared at them with a blank expression. He felt nothing. Or, perhaps, he felt too much. He meticulously reviewed the ethnicity estimates, the percentages, the "matches." Nothing made any sense. He'd done this for fun, or so he thought.

He walked into the kitchen, the open box from the DNA testing kit still on the counter. He picked it up, staring at the empty vial. It felt like a prop from some poorly written play. He threw it in the trash, then immediately retrieved it. He checked the contents over and over again.

He went back to the computer and reopened the email. He scrolled through the website, searching for any possible explanation. Maybe the lab had made a mistake? Maybe he'd mixed up his sample? He was grasping at straws.
