Gemotions

The fluorescent lights of the office hummed, matching the low thrum of disbelief inside Emily. Her coworker, Greg, was going on and on about the mythical Camp Skylark. She, too, had supposedly attended that same camp, a place she actively tried to forget.

“The lake was always freezing,” Emily said, her voice level. She took a deliberate sip of her coffee, the ceramic warm against her lip. Surely, he'd misremembered, or was confusing it with something else.

He continued, describing the exact same embarrassing incident that she had. Emily's fingers tightened around her mug. She didn't want to believe what was happening.
