The glow of the computer screen illuminated Amelia’s face as she stared at the online banking portal. The website's interface – simple, sleek, and utterly unfamiliar – mocked her. It was a bank in another city, a city her husband, John, often visited for work. She felt a tremor of unease course through her.

John always claimed they were struggling, that they had to watch every penny. Yet, here was this account, overflowing. She ran her fingers through her hair, a nervous gesture she often made when she was wrestling with something difficult.

Later, she confronted him, her tone carefully neutral. "John, I was just looking at our finances…" she began, her voice trailing off. His response, a hasty explanation about an inheritance from a distant relative, rang hollow.
