The brightly colored package on the front desk was an anomaly. Ms. Rodriguez always kept her classroom immaculate, a haven of order amidst the chaos of teenagers. This box, covered in wrapping paper plastered with cartoon characters, stuck out like a sore thumb. A gift from Javier? She hadn't seen him in five years.

She approached the package slowly, her gait deliberate. Her hands remained firmly at her sides. She circled it, observing it from every angle. Her eyes scanned the package for any sign of a joke or trick. She checked the seal. It was taped shut.

After a few minutes of contemplation, she unceremoniously ripped open the box. Inside, she found a set of art supplies. Expensive ones, the kind she could never afford. A new sketch pad, a box of high-quality colored pencils, and a set of paints. She lifted the lid of a paint tube, sniffing it carefully. It smelled… genuine.
