Gemotions

The sun beat down on Amelia as she stood in her backyard, the open grave yawning before her. The construction crew, finally finished. The construction had been going on forever. Now they were removing the last bit of debris. They’d unearthed a metal container. It was the time capsule from her childhood, the same one that had been announced on TV.

A small crowd had gathered. She shifted from foot to foot, her gaze fixed on the capsule. The contents were familiar, yet distant. A collection of old photographs, a few letters. She picked up a worn teddy bear. This had to be the same teddy bear she had when she was younger. She put it back. She didn’t remember any of this.
