Gemotions

The champagne flute felt heavy in Amelia's hand. The ballroom lights swam, blurring the floral arrangements and the swirling skirts on the dance floor. A heavy fog seemed to have settled behind her eyes, making everything feel distant and muffled. She leaned against a pillar, letting its cool surface ground her. "Just a few more hours," she mumbled to herself, her voice thick and slow. She blinked, trying to focus on the intricate embroidery of the tablecloth. Across the room, she saw him. Liam. He looked good, damn him.

His eyes met hers, and a small smile flickered on his lips. She quickly averted her gaze, her cheeks flushing. The weight in her limbs was immense, and she wished she could simply melt into the marble.

"Amelia!" a voice chirped nearby. It was Sarah, the bride. Amelia forced a smile. "Gorgeous wedding, Sarah." Sarah’s voice continued at a dizzying speed, while Amelia felt the world start to spin again.
