Gemotions

The world was muffled, as if viewed through a thick pane of glass. Evelyn wanted to stay in bed, the warmth of the covers offering a tempting refuge. She had to, though. Work wouldn't wait. It was with a monumental effort that she pushed herself up and got ready.

A quick glance out the window revealed the unsettling truth: her minivan was missing. Disbelief, slow and sluggish, crept over her. She blinked, her vision momentarily blurring. She stumbled outside, where a neighbor pointed towards a tow truck disappearing down the street. Evelyn's thoughts felt like molasses, stubbornly refusing to coalesce into a coherent plan.
