The drive-in movie screen seemed to pulse, the image a flickering distraction from the situation at hand. The cool night air felt soothing on her skin. She had a craving for nothing but the quiet. Next to her, a woman was excitedly describing a thrilling weekend in the mountains. "He took me stargazing and showed me all the constellations!" The woman’s voice was high-pitched, the volume almost painful. Sarah tried to listen, but everything sounded distant. The stars looked like little sparks of light, and she found herself craving darkness. She needed to close her eyes. She needed to be still. The thought was so powerful she could barely fight it.
