Gemotions

"I just… I need to concentrate," Amelia mumbled, her voice raspy. She was trying to focus on the numbers on the screen. The numbers swam, morphing into gibberish. The promotion was on her mind. Her brain was screaming at her.

She felt a strange heaviness in her limbs, a dragging sensation that made even the simplest movements feel like an enormous effort. She leaned her head against the cool glass of the window, trying to find some relief.

The sun outside was setting, casting long shadows across the office. The air grew colder, and Amelia shivered. She wanted to crawl into a warm blanket and disappear. Her eyes grew moist. She blinked them to regain some clarity.
