Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the office, but it did little to invigorate Jessica. She sat at her desk, staring at the applications of the other candidate. It all seemed so far away.

Her vision blurred. A wave of weariness washed over her. She pressed her fingertips against her temples, trying to massage away the tension. She felt disconnected from her body, as if she were watching herself from afar.

The clock on the wall seemed to tick in slow motion. Each second stretched into an eternity. She felt her attention drifting. She needed to focus. She had to. But she just wanted to lie down.
