The world moved at half-speed for Jessica. The simplest tasks felt like navigating through quicksand. She sat on the porch, staring at the blurred landscape. Her phone buzzed; her mother had texted: "Come help me sort! Found a treasure trove!"

She knew what the treasure trove held. Inside, the living room was transformed, occupied by boxes of varying sizes. Each one was labeled with her name and a grade level. She felt her chest constrict.

She reluctantly pulled herself from the porch. The door felt unusually heavy, and the journey inside was akin to scaling a steep cliff.
