A thick fog seemed to have settled inside Amelia’s brain, making even the simplest tasks feel like wading through molasses. The email, with its subject line "Your Teenage Diary Published!", had landed in her inbox an hour ago, but she'd only just managed to drag herself to the computer to actually read it. Her gaze blurred as she took in the words. They were...her words. Her raw, unfiltered adolescent angst, laid bare for the world to see.

She slumped back in her chair, the sudden weight of the revelation pressing down on her chest. A vague discomfort, a feeling of being lead-weighted, settled in her stomach. The room felt too warm, the air heavy.

Her phone buzzed with an incoming call from her mother. Without a second thought, she switched off the phone and stared at the screen, the notification still there. She needed a moment, a lifetime. Moving felt impossible.
