It was as if a heavy curtain had fallen over everything. She stared at the ceiling, unmoving, the room filled with a pervasive sense of… something hard to name. Getting up seemed impossible. The world held very little appeal.

The library, usually a haven, felt oppressive. She sat at her usual desk, surrounded by books, but couldn't focus. The words blurred before her eyes, the information refusing to stick in her mind. Her motivation had vanished.

She opened the email, her hand trembling. The scholarship, the thing she had been so grateful for, wasn't hers. It had been given to her by mistake. She felt a profound sense of… weariness.
