Gemotions

He woke to a gray, overcast day, mirroring his mood. He was supposed to meet his friends for coffee, go over his notes, and maybe even get ahead on his readings. Instead, he lay still in bed, feeling strangely… weighted down. He felt no urge to move.

He trudged to his classes, each step laborious. The lectures, usually a source of interest, were now a monotonous exercise in endurance. He doodled in his notebook, his mind miles away from the subject matter. The energy had left him.

He got the news later that afternoon. The scholarship, the financial aid that had made his dreams possible, had been a mistake. He walked back to his apartment, the world seeming to press in on him. His shoulders slumped.
