Gemotions

The morning light felt heavy, pressing down on Amelia. She groaned, pulling the covers higher. Her limbs felt like they were made of lead. Getting out of bed was a monumental task, a battle she lost for a precious few more minutes. Finally, a sharp knock at the door signaled defeat. "Amelia! Breakfast!" Her roommate, Leo, was a morning person.

"Coming," she mumbled, her voice thick with sleep. She shuffled into the kitchen, where Leo was already whistling, flipping pancakes with impressive speed. The air was filled with the delicious aroma, but Amelia felt no appetite.

"So, about that adoption application..." Leo began, eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. Amelia’s stomach dropped. She slumped onto a chair, the wood cold against her skin. "I still think a cat would be great. They're so independent!"

"Leo, we talked about this," she sighed, her words slow and deliberate. "I don't think I can handle the responsibility right now."
