Gemotions

The afternoon sun cast long shadows, but Michael felt no warmth. Everything felt draining. He felt as though he was moving through a dream, disconnected from his own body. He leaned heavily against the kitchen counter.

He was organizing old files when he found a forgotten envelope. Inside was a letter, written in a cramped, hurried script. It was a letter he had started to his college professor but had never completed.

The letter contained a plea for understanding, a desire for guidance. He recognized the feeling of being adrift, of struggling to find his place in the world. A sense of weary nostalgia washed over him.
