Liam felt his energy depleted this morning, like a phone battery that was almost dead. The tasks that usually excited him seemed impossible. He was supposed to be happy, but he wasn't. He thought of his tree, the weeping willow, and the memory made him walk.

His heart sank. The tree was gone. He stood there, his vision blurring slightly. The world around him seemed to lose definition. He felt leaden, immobile.

He looked around. The park seemed huge, and he felt a profound sense of isolation. His shoulders slumped.
